USDA Rural Development Area Director Joel Howard today celebrated the completion of two multi-family housing rehabilitation projects in Northwest Tennessee.
“Finding affordable rental housing can pose a challenge to many individuals,” Howard said. “With the two newly-renovated apartment complexes, our agency hopes to help more rural families obtain upgraded housing to improve the quality of life in Northwest Tennessee.”
In Union City, Reelfoot Apartments, a 48-unit complex with 29 units designated for rental assistance owned by The Hallmark Companies, Inc., completed construction on Dec. 15, 2015.
Eaglewood Estates, a 40-unit apartment complex with full rental assistance located in South Fulton and owned by Maco Management Company, Inc., completed construction on Dec. 10, 2015.
With both properties approaching 30 years in age, all units were completely “gutted” and reworked to include new roofs, windows, doors, energy efficient HVAC systems, paint, cabinets, and floor coverings. Additionally, handicap accessibility issues were addressed.
Others participating in the events include Hallmark representatives Sean Griffin and Chasity Blackburn, Maco’s Donnie Poole and Shannon Mansfield, South Fulton Mayor Ed Cassetty, THDA’s West TN representative Amy Schaftlein, Chamber Representative Lauren Bennett, USDA Area Director Joel Howard, and other local officials.
