USDA Rural Development State Director for Colorado Sallie Clark joined representatives from Build Pagosa, Inc. to announce the awarding of $1 million in federal funding to help advance the construction of a Regional Workforce Center in Pagosa Springs, CO.
“This funding represents an investment in our future and the community,” said Clark. “Once complete the new center will equip learners with skills and certifications needed to succeed while helping local employers meet the growing demand for a skilled workforce.” This investment marks a significant milestone in the community’s effort to expand hands-on education and workforce development opportunities in Archuleta County. “We’re proud to have received this funding, and the support of our Senators and the USDA. This contribution kickstarted our community’s capital campaign and catalyzed other funding opportunities,” said Executive Director Will Ridlehoover. The high school currently offers Career & Technical Education (CTE) courses but space constraints limit existing programming. This project will construct a new, 10,000 square foot facility on the High School Campus to expand and improve Career and Technical Education classes, and further workforce development by providing opportunities for adult learners and credential seekers.
Congressionally Directed Spending for this project was secured through the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities (CF) Program. The program provides financing for projects that improve the quality of life in rural communities by supporting essential public facilities and services.
