The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development office in Virginia today announced it will host four information sessions to inform Virginia lenders, realtors, non-profit partners and interested participants about its home loan programs.
The information sessions in Wytheville, Martinsville, Harrisonburg and Warsaw will provide an overview of USDA Rural Development Single Family Housing Direct Home Loan and Guaranteed Home Loan programs where participants will have the opportunity to speak directly with single family housing loan specialists.
“USDA Rural Development’s single family housing programs provide affordable homeownership opportunities for rural Virginians,” said Basil Gooden, Ph.D., Virginia State Director, USDA Rural Development. “The information sessions will illustrate how these programs can help create thriving communities and improve the quality of life in rural areas.”
USDA Rural Development’s Single Family Housing Direct Loan program provides financial assistance to help low and very-low-income applicants obtain decent, safe and sanitary housing in eligible rural areas. The amount of financial assistance provided depends on the household’s income. This program may also be used to build, repair, renovate or relocate a home, or to purchase and prepare sites.
The Single Family Housing Guaranteed Home Loan program helps approved lenders work with low- and moderate-income families to make homeownership a reality. Eligible applicants may build, rehabilitate, improve or relocate housing in an eligible rural area.
Both programs are open for applications year-round.
