USDA Rural Development Invests Nearly $8 Million in Water and Sewer Systems Upgrades for the Village of Cedar Grove

Release Date

Project will serve more than 2,100 people

(Stevens Point, Wis., July 20, 2026) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development is investing nearly $8 million to make necessary sewer system upgrades and water main replacements for the Village of Cedar Grove.

The projects will benefit more than 2,100 rural Wisconsinites.

“Reliable water infrastructure is crucial for the well‑being of rural communities,” said USDA Rural Development Wisconsin State Director Andrew C.

Iverson. “Projects like these protect public health, support economic growth, and help keep utility costs affordable for residents, priorities emphasized by President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.”

USDA Rural Development’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program is providing funding through two separate loans. These projects will improve water and wastewater infrastructure in the same areas of the village.

  • Sewer System Infrastructure Upgrades - The village will utilize a $4.052 million loan to reconstruct approximately 3,700 linear feet of the wastewater collection system. These improvements will reduce the inflow of clear water to the treatment plant, which will increase efficiency, reduce annual operating costs, and extend the life of the treatment plant.
  • Water Infrastructure Upgrades - The village will utilize a $3.562 million loan to reconstruct water mains in the affected areas. This will resolve issues with water main breaks and mineral build up and remove lead service lines, increasing efficiency for the water utility.

The agency accepts Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program applications year-round. Additional information about the program is available online or contact WI.RD.CP.SO@usda.gov.
