USDA Rural Development Seeks Applications for Farm Labor Housing Loans and Grants

USDA State Director for Hawaii and the Western Pacific Chris Kanazawa announced today that the Rural Development Agency is soliciting applications for the Farm Labor Housing Loans and Grants.  Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.  Pre-applications are due by 5 p.m. April 12 to the Hawaii State Office.

The Farm Labor Housing Loan and Grant Programs provide affordable financing for the development of housing for domestic farm laborers. Housing may be constructed in rural and urban areas with a demonstrated need.  Qualified applicants include: farmers, associations of both farmers and farmworkers, family farm corporations, federally-recognized tribes, nonprofit organizations, and most state and local governmental entities.

Approved applicants receive a 1 percent fixed rate with up to a 33-year payback period.  Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
