The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development is seeking applications for economic development and job creation projects in rural areas. Funding will be provided through the Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (REDLG) Program.
Local utilities are eligible to apply. Funding may be used to provide loans that assist with business start-up and expansion costs; business incubators; feasibility studies; advanced telecommunications and computer networks for medical, educational, and job training services; and community facilities that spur economic development.
Awards are made on a competitive basis. Loans of up to $1 million and grants of up to $300,000 are available.
Applications are due by 4:30 pm local time on December 31, 2016, for the second quarter; by March 31, 2017, for the third quarter; and by June 30, 2017, for the fourth quarter.
