Rural Development’s $150 thousand investment will provide assistance in completion of four homes in Hendersonville
HENDERSONVILLE, North Carolian-October 29, 2024- USDA Under Secretary for Rural Development Dr. Basil Gooden participated in a groundbreaking ceremony hosted by Housing Assistance Corporation of Westen North Carolina today.
USDA invested $150 thousand through a USDA Mutual Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grant to assist the Housing Assistance Corporation complete four houses currently under construction and build an additional four houses.
“The Biden-Harris Administration and USDA believe that everyone deserves to live in a safe and affordable home,” said Gooden. “That’s why we have awarded over $1 million to the Housing Assistance Corporation and the families who are achieving their dream of homeownership in Hendersonville. Safe and affordable housing opens up opportunities in every community, and it is our shared responsibility to ensure that everyone has access to those opportunities.”
The objective of the USDA Rural Development Mutual Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grant is to provide grants to qualified organizations to help them carry out local self-help housing construction projects.
The groundbreaking ceremony ended a fully day of travel for Gooden. He spent the day touring disaster recovery sites and spoke with many organizations who are assisting in the recovery of Western North Carolina.
