USDA Rural Development has awarded the Village of Guide Rock with $185,000 to upgrade the existing water facilities to correct inadequacies in the public water supply.

Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack noted that funding announcements for rural water projects are another reminder of the importance of USDA programs for rural America.  A comprehensive new Food, Farm and Jobs Bill would further expand the rural economy.  He said that's just one reason why Congress must get a comprehensive Food, Farm and Jobs Bill done as soon as possible.

“Clean and safe drinking water should be available to all of rural America.  USDA Rural Development is pleased to assist the Village of Guide Rock with their water needs,” said Community Programs Specialist Roberta Mues, USDA Rural Development.

The water project was funded through the USDA Rural Development Water program.  For more information contact Mues at 308-237-3118 ext.1128.
