USDA Rural Development has awarded $789,000 to the Village of Merriman to be leveraged with a $250,000 Community Development Block Grant from the State of Nebraska and $12,000 from the Village for water system improvements. Total project cost is $l.051 million.
“The water system has needed some attention for some time. It will be nice to have a new system in place,” said Chairperson Don Marrs, Village of Merriman.
“USDA funds will be used to add a well, replace water meters, and rehabilitate the water tank and well house and to make distribution system improvements,” said Community Programs Specialist Bert Mues, USDA Rural Development.
