Release Date

The village of Oakdale has received $385,100 from USDA Rural Development leveraged with other funding of $250,000 to complete the village’s $635,100 water improvement project.

Funds will construct a new municipal groundwater supply well, install new water meters and replace a water main.  The village has two current municipal groundwater wells, but only one well is the main source of water for the water system, the second well is only used in emergency situations.  The village has experienced water loss of more than 15 percent in the past.  This is likely due to outdated water meters that were installed in 1981 and distribution system leaks.

The Water & Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program provides funding for clean and reliable drinking water systems, sanitary sewage disposal, sanitary solid waste disposal, and storm water drainage to households and businesses in eligible rural areas.  Visit https://www.rd.usda.gov/programs-services/water-waste-disposal-loan-grant-program/ne.

The $107,000 loan is for 40 years at a 2.75 percent rate of interest.
