USDA Rural Development announces that the Village of Page, Nebraska is the recipient of a Special Evaluation Assistance for Rural Communities and Households (SEARCH) grant of $30,000.
“We are very pleased and appreciative to have been selected to receive funding for our project via the SEARCH Grant. The USDA does an extraordinary job of assisting smaller communities here in rural Nebraska with grants for various projects which would otherwise exceed the financial resources of Villages such as ours and for that we are very grateful. This grant will help us pinpoint any potential water system concerns so that they may be addressed in a timely manner,” said Chairperson Donald Linquist, Village of Page.
“Rural Development funds will be used for the development of a Preliminary Engineering Review on the Village’s aging water system,” said USDA Rural Development Community Programs Specialist, Cherry Neverve.
The SEARCH program helps very small, financially distressed rural communities with predevelopment feasibility studies, design assistance, and technical assistance on proposed water and waste disposal projects.
For more information on the SEARCH program, contact Cherry Neverve at 308-237-3118 ext. 124 or at Cheryl.neverve@ne.usda.gov.
President Obama’s plan for rural America has brought about historic investment and resulted in stronger rural communities. Under the President’s leadership, these investments in housing, community facilities, businesses and infrastructure have empowered rural America to continue leading the way – strengthening America’s economy, small towns and rural communities. USDA’s investments in rural communities support the rural way of life that stands as the backbone of our American values.
