Small rural businesses, ranchers and farmers can learn how to access grants and loans to finance renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements at a workshop February 6 in Carson City and Las Vegas.

Nevada will have more than $950,000 in grants available this year for Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) projects. Of that, $130,000 is available for projects of $80,000 or less, with an application deadline of April 30, 2015. At the workshop participants will learn how Nevada businesses and producers have used REAP for new heating and ventilation systems, solar thermal systems, and solar, wind and hydro power production.

The workshop for Nevada applicants who want to know more about REAP will be held from 10-12 at USDA Rural Development, 1390 S. Curry St., in Carson City, and at 7080 La Cienega St. Suite 100 in Las Vegas. Contact Mark Williams to RSVP and learn more at (775) 887-1222 Ext. 116 or mark.williams@nv.usda.gov.
