USDA provided a $48,200 Community Facilities grant to purchase commercial kitchen equipment for the center.
Churchill County funded the $5 million construction project mostly with funding from the William N. Pennington Foundation. The center is owned by Churchill County and operated by the Coalition for Senior Citizens, a 501 c3 non-profit. The new 16,000-square-foot senior center on Maine Street serves 100 clients each day in the dining room, another 190 seniors receive lunch at home through the center's Meals on Wheels delivery program. A library, meeting rooms and social areas complete the center.
