Rural Assisted Living Facility Renovates To Focus On Memory Care
Bethany Home is a nursing home and assisted living facility located in Minden, NE. The not-for-profit organization began in 1920 and constructed the current facility in 1961. Bethany Home started out primarily as a nursing home facility, but with a few additions over the years assisted living has been incorporated into the services they provide. The services currently provided by Bethany Home include; skilled nursing care, assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation therapy, adult day care, and respite care. The existing facility, at almost 91% occupancy, has 40 nursing home rooms, 53 assisted living rooms, and two separate eight bed units designated to memory care. In order to meet the changing needs of the community, Bethany Home is needing to renovate and expand once again.
USDA Rural Development has guaranteed two loans totaling more than $7.8 million. The loan funds will allow Bethany Home to construct a 16 bed memory unit, add eight additional assisted living units, renovate existing rooms for transitional care, renovate the rehabilitation therapy rooms, renovate the adult day care space, and renovate the facility with cosmetic upgrades.
The assistance provided by USDA Rural Development will allow Bethany Home to better serve the senior citizens of Minden and the surrounding communities by achieving their mission of providing holistic care with a special focus directed toward the well being of each resident’s mind, body and spirit.
