WEB Water Development Association, Inc. Expands to Better Serve Its Customers
In 1975, community leaders from three counties Walworth, Edmunds and Brown Counties had been looking for a way to improve the community’s drinking water. Within a year, the interest had grown to 6 counties and within four years, the project had grown to ten counties. Today, the WEB service area reaches customers in 17 counties, 14 counties in South Dakota and 3 counties in North Dakota.
WEB water is an example of what communities can do when they work together.. USDA and WEB have built a strong working relationship over the years. Thanks in part to a USDA Rural Development Water and Environmental Program loan of $7.12 million awarded in 2017, WEB will be able to upgrade water lines and construct a new booster station.
WEB has come a long ways over the years, the number of customers served has grown and the rates have remained affordable for the rural service area. The credit belongs to the favorable funding packages negotiated over the years and to the men and women who have served on the board, and to many partners that have provided assistance along the way.
