USDA Rural Development Area Director Faye McEwen joined owners Chris and Brad Tursky and Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) Director for Multifamily Development Mike Blade in celebration of the grand opening of Maple Grove Apartments today.

In addition to THDA funds of $4,152,644, Maple Grove Apartments received a $2,872,302 loan through USDA RD’s Multi-Family Housing Program.  The total development cost for the project was $7,024,946.  Funds will be used to combine the two complexes, Maple Grove I and Maple Grove II, and provide 32 one-bedroom units and 58 two-bedroom units.

The rehabilitation of the units’ interiors was extensive.  The apartment units were stripped and rebuilt to give a clean, modern look.  The reconstruction includes new ceramic tile floors, interior and exterior doors, appliances including the addition of dishwashers, HVAC units and water heaters, cabinets, granite countertops and ceiling fans in bedrooms.

Units designated as handicap accessible were given additional required features such as stairway, parking, and sidewalk accessibility.  The exterior was upgraded with a new mailbox gazebo, playground equipment and handicap parking and accessible sidewalks.  The complex office was also expanded to provide more usable space.

Maple Grove Apartments was assumed by Marshall County Associates II LP in April 2014.  Originally built in 1985 and 1988, the project was two separate properties.  Maple Grove I was a 50-unit family complex, and Maple Grove II was a 40-unit family complex.  Both properties were adjacent to one another on S. Ellington Pkwy in Lewisburg, Tenn.
