A Single Mother's Blessing

"It is truly a blessing to come home each day to our peaceful environment," said Amanda Gilliard. The goal of graduating from college and purchasing a home for her family has been realized. For the last seven years, Amanda has maintained full-time employment, complete a four-year degree program and provides for her three young children. She first obtained a two-year degree in Healthcare Management, and was later awarded a full tuition scholarship to Regent University. In May 2020, she graduated with a degree in Business Management and soon after set her eyes on the purchase of a new home.

Seymour ISD Ups Security with New Cruiser

Seymour ISD provides educational opportunities to the City of Seymour, a small North Texas town with a population of 2,613, and the surrounding Baylor County. With a growing student population of 582, the school district created its own police department to help ensure the safety of students and staff. In the past, the school district has contracted with the local police department and the sheriff's office; however, cuts in their budgets have hindered the district in this process.

Accessible, Reliable Fire Equipment is a Necessity in This Rural South Dakota Community

The Vale Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency response services to the Vale, SD community and surrounding area that encompasses a 170-square mile area. Its mission is to prevent the loss of life and property. In addition to responding to calls for fire suppression, Vale Fire Department responds to medical emergencies, incidents involving hazardous materials, rescue calls, and motor vehicle or other accidents.

Smooth Drive for All in the City

Pawnee City had 3.8 miles of streets composed of asphalt or rock and deteriorated to the point repair was no longer feasible. With minimal to no curbing, the majority of drainage was in open ditches along the roadway. Complete replacement was necessary for safe streets in this area of the City.

Using the design provided by a Consulting Engineer firm, Rural Development was able to help the City identify the necessary financing to bring the streets back to new, smooth drivable surfaces.

More Than a Dream Come True for Aberdeen, South Dakota Homeowner

Tessa Dosch lives in Aberdeen, SD and had been living in a rental property for several years that was in poor condition.  It needed major repairs to the foundation, and it had old, drafty windows. Tessa had been longing to own a home of her own. One fall day, she had been visiting with her longtime friend who also happened to be a realtor. Through this partnership, she learned about USDA Rural Development’s Single-Family Housing programs.
