Selling In the Federal Marketplace

Federal agencies and their contractors are required to purchase biobased products within categories designated by USDA. The federal government and federal contractor markets represent billions of dollars in purchases annually. Federal buyers and federal contractors seek biobased products that qualify for Preferred Federal Purchasing, that are cost competitive, and that perform well. (Learn more)
 

Selling In the General Marketplace

Biobased products that are certified through the BioPreferred® Program are allowed to display the USDA Certified Biobased Product label on their packaging. This label allows consumers to easily identify that the biobased product has been third-party tested and verified for its percent biobased content. BioPreferred® Program Catalog

Biobased products that qualify for preferred federal purchasing and/or that are USDA Certified Biobased Products appear in the BioPreferred® Program Catalog. If your products meet the requirements to participate in the BioPreferred Program, please consider registering your company with the BioPreferred Program and entering your products’ information by following the steps in the section below.

Innovative Criteria

Based on the requirements in the 2014 Farm Bill, forestry and other traditional biobased products are eligible to participate in the BioPreferred Program. All biobased products seeking eligibility to participate in the Program must demonstrate innovative approaches in the growing, harvesting, sourcing, procuring, processing, manufacturing, or application of the biobased product. Including Company and Product Information in BioPreferred® Program Catalog

There is a two-stage process to enter company and product information in the BioPreferred Program Catalog.

  1. Create a Login.gov Account
    If you do not already have one, you must create a login.gov account, which provides a proven security process for accessing the BioPreferred Program’s Company Tools. To do so, first select the “Create Login.gov Account” link below, then select “Customer”, “Need an Account”, “Continue to login.gov”, “Create an account,” and follow the prompts to create a user account.   2. Enter Company and Product Information
    Use your login.gov account to log in through the Company Tools portal. Once you have logged in to Company Tools, you can register your company or request access to an existing company account. From your company account in Company Tools, you can initiate an application for the USDA Certified Biobased Product label, download labels for certified products, and complete other functions.  For instructions on how to use Company Tools, download the Company Tools Tutorial.
