Keeping the electric on was crippling the Maggard family. Electric bills ranging from $300-$600 per month ate up the majority of the family’s fixed income.
HOMES Inc., one of Rural Development’s strong housing partners in Eastern Kentucky, led a project combining funding sources that ultimately helped the Maggard family cut those electric bills to a small fraction of what they were.

Paving the Way for Tribal Education
Salish Kootenai College (SKC), in Pablo, Mont., was founded in 1977, became self-governing in 1981, and was later designated as a land-grant college. SKC serves 68 percent of first generation college students.
With enrollment exceeding 700, and many students commuting to pursue full-time degrees, SKC knew they had to expand their infrastructure to offer better access.
Carbon County Gets a New Hospital
Carbon County Pennsylvania opened the doors to its newest hospital in 65 years on November 21, 2021. The trauma-4 facility is expected to treat about 50,000 emergency care patients a year, thanks to a $98.5 million Community Facilities direct USDA loan investment for the project and a $16 million guaranteed loan.

Since the Chessar’s opened the guest ranch in 2003 they have had visitors from 28 countries and every state in the union except one.
