PRINCEVILLE, NC, Sept. 25, 2025 — Members of the USDA Rural Development Team and U.S. Congressman for North Carolina's 1st District Don Davis participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony with Edgecombe County’s Public Works today.
Rural Development invested $9.3 million in USDA Water and Environmental loans and grants update and replace many aspects of Princeville’s water and sewer system for 1,050 residential and 30 commercial water and sewer customers.
“I see the growth of Edgecombe every time I travel through this area,” said USDA Rural Development State Director Robert Hosford. “Rural Development is proud to partner with Edgecombe County to assure this population has access to the same quality of life needs as the people living in urban areas.”
The Water and Environmental program provides funding for the construction of water and waste facilities in rural communities with populations of 10,000 or less. WEP also provides funding to organizations that provide technical assistance and training to rural communities in relation to their water and waste activities.
