San Juan, PR, June 2, 2025 – Nelson Albino was sworn in today as the new director of USDA Rural Development for Puerto Rico.

 

Director Albino born in the city of Mayagüez, studied at King University in Tennessee in Health Administration with previous studies at George Mason University in Virginia. He has worked in the healthcare industry in different executive roles. He also serves our country as a volunteer in the Civil Air Patrol.

 

 Nelson Albino was appointed by President Donald Trump to serve as State Director of USDA Rural Development on May 27, 2025. Director Albino will implement President Trump's "America First" agenda, ensuring that the needs of farmers, ranchers, and producers remain a priority.

 

"When America's farming communities thrive, the entire nation thrives. This new group of USDA appointees will ensure that President Trump's "America First" agenda is a reality in rural areas across the country. 

 

State Directors serve as the executive director of USDA Rural Development in the states and territories and are tasked with leading teams to carry out the mission of Rural Development for the benefit of all Americans in rural areas. Along with the guidance and support of the National Office, these directors are responsible for advancing the key priorities and initiatives of the Presidential Administration, the Secretary of Agriculture, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Rural Development. State Directors also provide key leadership to foster a mission-driven, accountable, high-performing workforce focused on operational excellence, public trust, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources.
