Department of Agriculture Rural Development Kentucky State Director Travis T. Burton and U.S. Congressman James Comer today announced USDA is investing over $1.6 million in a sewer project in the city of Morganfield.
“Water projects are not the most glamorous, but they’re essential to the prosperity of our rural communities,” said Burton. “Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Rollins, USDA Rural Development is proud to be a partner to water districts across the Commonwealth as they continue providing safe drinking water and sanitary waste disposal.”
The city of Morganfield will use a $1.6 million loan to replace sewer lines, storm sewers and relocate a small section of water line.
“Infrastructure is the foundation of strong communities, and this investment in Morganfield’s sewer system marks a critical step forward for Union County,” said Comer. “Projects like these are essential to safeguarding public health, strengthening local economies, and laying the groundwork for long-term growth. I’m grateful to USDA Rural Development Kentucky State Director Travis Burton and the Trump Administration for their continued commitment to investing in projects across Kentucky, and I look forward to the positive impact this investment will have on the Morganfield community.”
This fiscal year alone, USDA Rural Development has invested over $44 million in water and wastewater projects across the commonwealth.
