In the rolling hills of Comanche County, Legacy Estate Long Term Care stands as a beacon of hope and innovation in rural healthcare. A not-for-profit care center owned by Comanche County Consolidated Hospital District (CCCHD), and led by CEO Nikki Stark and Misty Hill, the project manager, the new nursing home facility embodies the entity’s commitment to providing top-tier care for their aging population.

“Before Legacy Estate, our community faced a critical shortage of modern long-term care facilities. Aging infrastructure and limited resources compelled residents to seek care elsewhere, leaving families fragmented and our healthcare system strained,” said Nikki Stark. Recognizing this pressing need, Nikki Stark and Misty Hill embarked on a mission to bridge the gap in long-term care services and elevate the standard of living for elderly population.

With the support of local banker, Jeff Stewart, Comanche County Consolidated Hospital District (CCCHD) received the financial backing needed through the USDA Community Facilities Guaranteed Loan Program to realize their vision. USDA Rural Development’s commitment to rural communities and infrastructure investments proved instrumental in kickstarting this transformative initiative.

Legacy Estate is not just a nursing home — it is a testament to innovation and foresight in rural healthcare. With 76 units, 52 of those are completely private suites with private bathrooms, state-of-the-art therapy facilities, and multigenerational communal spaces, Legacy Estate sets a new standard for long-term care. The facility's design prioritizes comfort, dignity, and quality of life for residents, ensuring that they can age with grace and pride within their community.

The impact of this nursing home facility extends far beyond its walls, touching the lives of countless individuals in the community. Generous contributions from local residents, totaling over $1 million, underscore the community's unwavering support for this transformative project that is set to open it's doors this month.

As recipients of federal assistance, Comanche County Consolidated Hospital District wholeheartedly recommends federal loan programs, such as USDA RD, to other entities seeking to address critical infrastructure needs. The diligence and support provided by federal agencies ensure the success and sustainability of projects like Legacy Estate, paving the way for a brighter future for rural communities across the nation. Looking ahead, CCCHD remains committed to serving as a model of excellence in rural healthcare, providing compassionate care and support for generations to come.
