Garbage Turned into Energy

Have you ever ridden by a landfill and watch flames coming out of pipes emerging from the debris and say to yourself-what a waste of energy/heat??? That’s called off gassing to relieve gas build up from garbage. Although, in 2013, Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative Corp. (RECC) and the City of Glasgow, KY wanted to capture that gas and convert it to electric energy. 

USDA ReConnect Is Paving the Way for a More Connected and Prosperous Future for All Residents

Columbia, S.C., February 9, 2024 - Last fall, the Rural Utilities Service Administrator Andrew Berke visited Bamberg, South Carolina, to announce a significant $24 million investment through the ReConnect Program for broadband infrastructure enhancements in Orangeburg and Bamberg counties. This initiative allocated $12 million in grant funding to each county.

Anadarko Power Plant Combustion Turbine

Western Farmers Electric Cooperative proposes to construct the Anadarko Power Plant Combustion Turbine project.  It will construct two new natural gas-fired simple-cycle combustion turbines, which will replace three gas-fired boilers, at the existing Anadarko Power Plant.  The project will have approximately 28.5 acres of land disturbance (including a new 0.94-mile transmission line) and is located in Anadarko, Caddo County, Oklahoma.

Sidney Solar Project

Under the Powering Affordable Clean Energy (PACE) Program for a Renewable Energy Resource (RER) system, the Rural Utilities Service (RUS), is considering a request for loan financing from SE Municipal Solar, LLC to construct and operate a 4,486-kilowatt (kW) direct current (DC) photo voltaic (PV) solar energy power system. The solar project is proposed to be constructed on 22 - acres owned by the City of Sidney located in Cheyenne County, Nebraska.

AR Solar - Clark County - VNA, LLC

Today’s Power, Inc. proposes to construct the AR Solar - Clark County - VNA, LLC project.  It will be a solar facility on a 36.8-acre tract owned by Veolia North America, LLC.  The project site is at the intersection of Highway 26 and Highway 17, near Gum Springs, Clark County, Arkansas.  It will connect to the existing electrical grid.
