Trump Administration Awards $2.8 Million to Expand Telemedicine and Distance Learning Opportunities in Rural Georgia

ATHENS, Ga., Oct. 7, 2020 – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $72 million in grants to help rural residents gain access to health care and educational opportunities. Of this total, $2.8 million is awarded for distance learning and telemedicine expansion in rural Georgia.

USDA Rural Development Now in Enterprise-Wide Remote Operational Status

Deputy Under Secretary Bette Brand announced today that USDA Rural Development is implementing enterprise-wide remote operational status effective immediately. Rural Development leadership and managers will continue to provide excellent customer service while following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) direction for social distancing in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
