The Carrillo family had outgrown their two-bedroom house and started to look for a home that was more accommodating to their needs. Jesus and Jasmine had hopes to buy a house in Petersburg where they currently lived and had grown up. The Carillo's had heard about the USDA Rural Development 502 program and contacted the Lubbock Office to submit an application.
The COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing during the time of applying and processing, but Jesus and Jasmine were able to find a four bedroom house in Petersburg. This would give their two girls their own rooms instead of sharing.
The loan was closed in August of 2020 and the Carillo's had a quick, easy move into their new home.
Jesus and Jasmine feel like this home is like setting their roots where they called home and now they can become a part of the community as a family of four. They can now give back to the community and start the next generation for Petersburg. They also both have family in Petersburg so the girls can see their grandparents all the time now. Everyone is all smiles!
