Father and Daughter, Charles and Heidi Gascoigne purchased a home together with the assistance of USDA Rural Development and their partners. The Gascoigne’s have worked for two years to make homeownership a reality. Even though they both have limited incomes and thought they could never afford a home, they held onto their dreams and never gave up. Prior to moving into their new home, Charles was renting a house and Heidi was renting an apartment.
The Gascoigne’s received a USDA Rural Development Section 502 Direct Single Family Housing packaged loan through James Valley Housing, Inc. to purchase a South Dakota Housing Development Authority Governor’s Home. They also received a $5,000 Grow South Dakota silent mortgage for closing costs.
“My daughter and I were determined to become homeowners. We put a lot of hard work into making homeownership a reality for our family,” said Charles Gascoigne, new homeowner. “We both have a great sense of pride in our accomplishment and enjoy having family and friends over.”
Providing affordable homeownership opportunities promotes prosperity, which in turn creates thriving communities and improves the quality of life in rural areas.
