RUS Electric Program has provided loan funds in the amount of $20 million for a renewable energy solar project, which is USDA’s largest solar project to date. The loan to Montgomery Solar, LLC, will help build a 20 megawatt Solar Farm located in Briscoe, NC. “It will occupy about 120 acres of land and generate power that would be the equivalent of what 3,500 homes would consume every year.” Construction is slated to begin in April 2015.
In addition Cirrus Solar, LLC located in Franklin County, North Carolina and Chocowinity Solar, LLC located in Beaufort County, North Carolina will each receive $5 million to build 5 MW solar farms. RUS Electric Program funding will allow these three renewable solar projects to generate 30 megawatts of energy.
