In Chisago City, Minnesota, Aliesha Larson faced a daunting challenge as a single mother living with three of her children. Living with her daughter Ali, who uses a wheelchair, and her two sons in a cramped two-bedroom rental was becoming increasingly difficult. The multi-level home posed significant mobility issues for her daughter, especially since the walls were unsuitable for installing a chair lift. Aliesha carried Ali up and down the stairs at least twice daily, a physically demanding and emotionally taxing task.

What does this program do?

This program provides funding for clean and reliable drinking water systems, sanitary sewage disposal, sanitary solid waste disposal, and storm water drainage to households and businesses in distressed communities located in eligible rural areas within persistent poverty counties where the primary purpose of the loan is to upgrade existing facilities or construct new facilities required to meet applicable health or sanitary standards.
