Beginning Sept. 8, 2026, USDA Rural Development in Maine is expanding its community presence by establishing staff availability in USDA Service Center offices across Rural Maine. This initiative increases access points for residents by leveraging existing USDA infrastructure—allowing Rural Development staff to work onsite in USDA Service Center locations one day each month. This expansion enhances direct support for essential programs including Single Family Housing 502/504, Community Facilities, and Rural Business Cooperative Services, helping low‑income families, seniors, and underserved communities overcome geographic, transportation, and digital barriers to accessing programs that improve the lives of Rural Mainers.
This expansion represents a practical, high‑impact step toward strengthening Rural Development’s visibility, accessibility, and service delivery across Maine’s rural communities.
