The Nevada Department of Agriculture, PACE Coalition of Elko and Nevada office of USDA Rural Development are co-sponsoring a Summer Meals and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Workshop Aug. 29 in Elko at the Nevada Department of Agriculture, 4780 E. Idaho Street.
The workshops are open to members of the public interested in hosting a meals program through either the CACFP or Summer Meals Program. For example, public agencies, tribes, nonprofits and child and adult day care programs may be eligible to apply for funding to provide nutritious meals.
Two workshops are being offered:
9 a.m. – 12 p.m. - Child and Adult Care Food Program Workshop – This training will cover the CACFP, a meals and snack program for children and adults in a day care setting. The Nevada Department of Agriculture provides funds for eligible participants to assist with nutritious meals.
1-4:30 p.m. Summer Meals Program Workshop: This training will cover the Summer Meals Program that provides nutritious meals for children under 18. This workshop will cover the ways that tribes, faith-based organizations, nonprofits and public agencies can participate as either a sponsor or site host for the Summer Meals Program. Sponsors apply for the funding, track and request reimbursements and site hosts provide a safe location for a group meal site.
