U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development State Director for Michigan Brandon Fewins today announced $1,649,540 in grants to western Michigan agriculture producers and rural small businesses to make investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency to lower their costs, generate new income, and strengthen the resilience of their operation.
“The dozens of projects we have highlighted over the last three weeks show the extent and geographic diversity of USDA’s support for rural businesses,” said Fewins. “The good news is that we are able to continue this support for new applicants and entrepreneurs who want to transition to renewable energy or become more energy efficient.”
The projects are funded through the Rural Energy for America Program, and are in addition to an earlier investment of $2,132,258 for projects in other Michigan communities.
