Funding to Help Purchase New Patrol Vehicle
USDA Rural Development Colorado State Director Sallie Clark announced that the Canon City Police Department was awarded $27,500 Community Facilities Grant. The grant will be used to modernize, expand and improve the Canon City Police Department’s patrol fleet through the purchase a new police cruiser/patrol vehicle. The addition of the vehicle will allow the department to better serve Canon City and surrounding areas.
“Essential community facilities are the lifeblood of our rural communities,” said Clark. “The Community Facilities Programs offer direct loans, loan guarantees and grants to develop or improve essential public services and facilities in communities across rural Colorado. USDA is a leading supporter to rural communities building or modernizing their schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities, and their public safety stations including fire and rescue as well as law enforcement,” said Clark.
