The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development is seeking applications for grants to make housing repairs for low- and very-low-income rural residents. The funding is being provided through USDA's Housing Preservation Grant Program.

Under this program, USDA does not provide funding directly to homeowners. Instead, the sponsoring organizations receiving Housing Preservation Grants helps to repair or rehabilitate housing for low-income rural residents. The grants may be used to resolve health or safety issues, make accessibility modifications, or make energy efficiency improvements to lower utility costs.

Town and county governments, public agencies, federally recognized tribes, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations are eligible to apply.

Applications are due by July 17, 2017. In Oregon, applications should be submitted to the USDA Rural Development State Office:

          USDA Rural Development
ATTN: Faith Harris, Multi-Family Housing Specialist
          1220 SW 3rd Avenue
          Suite 1801
          Portland, OR 97204
