USDA Rural Development announces that the Village of Western, Nebraska is the recipient of a Special Evaluation Assistance for Rural Communities and Households (SEARCH) grant of $24,000.

“Rural Development funds will assist the Village of Western to make an informed decision about its future wastewater system via the development of a Preliminary Engineering Report.  This approach will clearly describe the village’s current situation, look at various alternatives for future waste infrastructure needs, and develop the economic and environmental impact that the upgrades will have on the wastewater system,” said USDA Rural Development Community Programs Specialist, Luann Brown.

The SEARCH program helps very small, financially distressed rural communities with predevelopment feasibility studies, design assistance, and technical assistance on proposed water and waste disposal projects.

For more information on the SEARCH program, contact Luann Brown at 402-437-5571 or luann.brown@ne.usda.gov.
