Bethany Home, Inc. Celebrates a New Beginning

Name
Jessica Mancel
City
Waupaca
Release Date

Since 1895, Bethany Home, Inc. has served the residents of Waupaca and neighboring communities. This week, they celebrated the beginning of a new era, opening the doors to an additional Residential Care Apartment Complex, Skilled Nursing Facility, Bistro and Wellness Center along with a refurbished kitchen. The new additions allow for expanded services and program offerings for the aging populations in their service area.

These new facilities will enable the staff to keep providing a unique retirement community based on a contemporary care model by offering living options for every stage of retirement, from independent or assisted living to skilled nursing care. The campus also has dining facilities, a beauty shop and massage therapy.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development awarded Bethany Home, Inc. a $25 million dollar, low interest, direct loan through the Community Facilities Program. The project added 40 residential care units and replaced 83 skilled nursing facility units. Now that the skilled nursing facility is finished, Bethany Home, Inc will be able to move residents from the outdated skilled nursing facility and start the remodeling to turn it into a 61 unit Community Based Residential Facility featuring a Rehabilitation Center.

“This project is an excellent example of collaboration and partnership with the local community to help improve health services and the quality of life for people in central Wisconsin,” said USDA Rural Development Wisconsin Acting State Director, Dave Schwobe. “It is touching to hear the stories of current residents that vacationed or lived in the Waupaca area who now have fulfilled their dream of retiring in a beautiful part of Wisconsin.”
