USDA Rural Development Nashville Area Director Christopher Westbrook today joined Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency (MCCAA) Executive Director Kevin Davenport to celebrate Mid-Cumberland’s receipt of a grant to assist low- and very-low-income rural residents in Wilson, Williamson, Trousdale, Sumner and Rutherford Counties.
“These grants help rural homeowners improve their properties,” Westbrook said. “Funds may be used to resolve health or safety issues, make accessibility modifications for people with disabilities, or make energy-efficiency improvements.”
The $36,000 grant is being provided through USDA Rural Development's Housing Preservation Grant program and is being combined with funding from the State of Tennessee to help 12 low-, and very-low income rural households make necessary home repairs.
Others participating in the event include MCCAA LiHeap/Weatherization Director Andrea Stanley, Communications Specialist Cassandra Foret, USDA Rural Development Housing Program Director Don Harris, and Area Specialist Beverly McCadden.
USDA Rural Development is moving investments to rural America with housing, business and infrastructure loans and grants to create jobs and strengthen rural economies with an emphasis to assist areas of persistent poverty.
