USDA Rural Development Area Director Faye McEwen today, joined by property owners Russell and Dana Holloway and Tennessee Housing Development Agency Middle Tennessee Liaison Denise McBride, celebrated the open house of newly-renovated Lobelville Village Apartments.

“Today, we celebrate the rehabilitation of a 31-year-old property that will help improve the economy and quality of life in rural Tennessee,” McEwen said. “This project would not have been successful without the efforts of USDA, the property owners, Russell and Dana, and THDA.”

Lobelville Village Apartments is a 32-unit family complex with 28 units of rental assistance built in 1985. The ownership of the property was transferred to the Holloways in 2015. In conjunction with USDA RD’s Multi-Family Housing Direct Loans program and THDA tax credits, the total amount of funds acquired for the apartment complex’s rehabilitation was $2.8 million.

Practically stripped down and rebuilt, the units were given a clean, modern look with wood-grain vinyl, plank floors. The units also received new interior and exterior doors and windows, appliances including the addition of dishwashers, HVAC units and water heaters, and cabinets and countertops. Units designated as handicap-accessible now have handicap parking, accessible sidewalks and stairways. New playground equipment and picnic area for the residents were also added.

Others participating in the event include Perry County Mayor Terry Richardson, Lobelville Mayor Robbie Moore, Regions Bank Sr. Vice President Frank Peele, THDA Middle TN Liaison Denise McBride, USDA Rural Development Area Director Faye McEwen, Area Specialist Beverly Peterson, and Area Technician Morgan Buhaly.
