Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development Anne Hazlett today announced that USDA is accepting applications for grants to fund broadband infrastructure projects in unserved rural communities.

   “E-connectivity is essential to the economic vitality and quality of life in rural communities,” Hazlett said. “Investing in broadband can strengthen rural economic growth and improve critical access to jobs, education, health care and social services.”

USDA Accepting Broadband Applications for Community Connect Grants in Unserved Rural Nevada; $30 Million Available Nationwide

USDA Rural Development Nevada State Director Phil Cowee has announced that the agency is accepting applications for grants to fund broadband infrastructure projects in unserved rural communities with minimal service. An estimated $30 million is available nationwide.

"Broadband and internet access are essential to the economic prosperity of rural communities," Cowee said.  “Investing in broadband can help a community address education and public safety issues while improving business enterprise and social services.”

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Under Secretary Lisa Mensah today announced that USDA is accepting applications for the Community Connect Grant Program for FY 2017. 

The grants may be used to provide broadband service in unserved, lower-income and extremely rural areas.
