Curtis Johnson

Curtis Johnson, currently serving as the Acting State Director for USDA Rural Development Indiana, brings over 23 years of experience with the Agency to his role. His comprehensive understanding of the organization's mission and programs was demonstrated during his tenure as the Deputy State Director. Johnson has been instrumental in assisting rural Hoosiers in securing financial and technical assistance across various program areas, including addressing housing needs and critical infrastructure requirements and revitalizing the economies of small cities and towns across the state.

Under Johnson's leadership, investment in rural Indiana has grown significantly, reaching over $1 billion annually. Before his tenure with the Agency, Johnson gained valuable experience in the financial services industry, working with national firms in marketing, strategic planning, and operations.

Johnson holds a Master of Science in Information and Communication Sciences from Ball State University and is a distinguished Golden Key Honour Society member. His commitment to continuous professional development is further showcased by his professional certifications in Community Planning from Purdue University and Economic and Community Development from Ball State University.

A proud Hoosier, Johnson values spending quality time with his family, including his wife of 22 years, two daughters, one son, and three granddaughters. His dedication to serving rural communities and wealth of experience make him a valuable asset to USDA Rural Development Indiana.
